Hidden Hearing: Breaking Down Boundaries
Better access to ear and hearing healthcare for everyone
This World Hearing Day we’d like to showcase the important work Hidden Hearing have been doing to tackle the large unmet need for ear and hearing healthcare in the UK.
Maintaining a good standard of ear and hearing health is extremely important. Being able to hear well enables us to interact with society, thrive at work and school, and generally allows us to get the best out of life. Unfortunately, it is an area of healthcare that is often overlooked, with 1 in 5 adults suffering from a hearing problem (RNID). Despite being so prevalent, many patients find it to access this type of care. Often, they face long waiting lists and multiple appointments with different healthcare professionals before they can access the right care.
Hidden Hearing have been running their ear and hearing health check-ups as part of their wax removal service for the last 9 months, however during that time they have assessed and treated an incredible 12,000 members of the public. As a result, these patients have received faster and easier access to vital services, which directly affect their everyday quality of life. What’s more, by treating these patients within a community setting, Hidden Hearing have saved the NHS a considerable amount of time and resource, which will directly benefit other patients in the system.
“Hidden Hearing’s wax removal service launched in July 2021, and since then we have trained 30 Ear Care Practitioners, offer wax removal in over 80 clinics nationwide and have helped over 12,300 customers.
Following the wax removal process, we can refer customers to one of our qualified audiologists for a hearing test, helping to make a life-changing difference to those who need it. Many customers have been delighted by our exceptional service; I am extremely proud of the great feedback we have received so far.
This is just the beginning for us, we plan to open more wax removal clinics to enable us to help as many people as we can with their hearing healthcare.”
UK Operations Manager Wax Management, Hidden Hearing
TympaHealth have been proud to train 30 Hidden Hearing Ear Care Practitioners (ECPs) who are qualified to deliver the best care possible to their patients. They have had some fantastic feedback so far, which goes to show how happy patients are after their treatment:
My partner and I went to Hidden Hearing to have wax removed from our ears as this is no longer offered by GPs. The overall procedure was quick and pain free and everything was explained in detail. I would not hesitate in recommending.Viv, Hidden Hearing Patient (trust pilot review)
I must say how impressed I was by this company. They are so friendly and helpful, but also extremely professional. My wax removal process was painless and has certainly helped me! Thank you so much!Jan, Hidden Hearing Patient (trust pilot review)
It’s more important than ever to ensure patients can quickly and easily access ear and hearing health services when they require them. Living with pain, discomfort, or an untreated hearing loss can have a very negative impact on the lives of people of all ages.
Hidden Hearing’s hard work is making a very positive impact, not only to the patients they have treated, but to the wider healthcare system overall. We need more healthcare providers to expand their services to deliver ear and hearing healthcare to their local community – helping make it accessible to all.
