We got in touch with The Hearing Place, a one-stop-shop for ear and hearing care based in York, with multiple clinics throughout North and West Yorkshire. We spoke to Jessica to find out how one year on from opening, she’s seen an incredible 2000+ patients using the Tympa System!

How did you start your journey using the Tympa System?

“One of our clinical ear specialists, who has over 7 years’ experience in wax removal, Helen, was one of the first people to be trained by Dr. Krishan Ramdoo and she raved about how good it was! So, when I started my business in 2021, it was the only option!”

How much demand has there been for the service?

“Lots! We’ve been fully booked since day one and have just seen our 2000th client for wax removal as well as celebrated our first birthday as a business. The Tympa System has really helped us keep up with demand.”

What obstacles have you encountered along the way and how did you overcome them?

“Capacity has been our main obstacle. As there has been so much demand for the service we’ve employed two new clinical ear specialists, Helen and Sam, who are doing wax removal full time and we have plans to expand further in the future. The Tympa System has helped us to keep up with capacity, and the ease of use and training available means I’m able to train new staff quickly when required.”

What are your plans for the future?

“Our plans for the future are to expand the business. Being at full capacity there is definitely the demand for the service. Plans are already in the making – watch this space!”

Any advice for others starting out on their Tympa journey?

“What are you waiting for? My advice would be to roll this out in your practices as soon as possible! There is huge demand for this service and Tympa provides a seamless, professional offering with added value through the hearing check, setting you apart from competitors.”

What has been your favourite thing about using the Tympa System?

“There are many great features, but my favourite thing is its effectiveness. The Tympa System has such high-quality imagery you get a great view of the ear, and you can record and take pictures of patients’ ears and show them, which helps explain diagnosis much easier. It also makes it a lot clearer to see exactly what you’re doing. On top of this it is easy to use, and clients love it!”

What type of customer uses your service?

“Anyone who has excess wax build up. It tends to be the older generation, but we have plenty of young people needing our services too.”

What methods have worked well when it comes to getting the word out about your new Tympa service?

“We have Google Ads running promoting the service, and in the past, we have posted in local Facebook groups which has been very effective and has helped develop our customer base. We also get a lot of word-of-mouth recommendations and have over 190 5-star reviews on Google which has made a huge difference.”
