“I feel confident in delivering a safe procedure to my patients with the back-up we get from Tympa.”

How did you start your journey using the Tympa system?

I was chatting to a friend who had recently had his ears microsuctioned and he felt amazing. I had never heard of it, so I started doing some research and came across TympaHealth.

I was impressed from the very beginning. The ethos of the company and the dedication to its patients astounded me. I spoke to Graham, and he talked me through it all and after five minutes of talking to him, I knew this was something I needed to do. I couldn’t wait to get started!

You’ve recently expanded Yorkshire Ear Health to three clinics, how much demand has there been for the service?

My business plan initially was to do home visits, but I was also very lucky to have a friend that has a physio clinic who very kindly let me use his room once a week. So, my aim was to do both home visits and clinic appointments. However, it soon became apparent that my clinic was so busy I had no need to do home visits. Of course, I will still visit the elderly or home-bound if they request an appointment.

Could you tell us a bit about what motivated you to expand to three clinics? And how has this process has gone?

My HOWDEN clinic, Yorkshire Ear Health, was growing by the day and demand was so high, I couldn’t fit everyone in. So, I thought about renting another room in a nearby town, which has also been a great success. I was then approached by a friend that has a beauty salon and she has asked if I would like to run a clinic with her, as her customers were always asking for ear wax removal. Now, I am about to work on opening a fourth clinic in Garforth.

Have you encountered obstacles along the way? If so, how did you overcome them?

There have been a few obstacles along the way. It took me a little while to get more confident with the system and it does also take a bit of time to get used to the more unusual things. However, the support from Tympa and in particular the Remote Review via the Tympa Panel is very reassuring and is always on hand when you need it.

So far, I have found a seed and a grommet and have removed both successfully. I feel confident in delivering a safe procedure to my patients with the back-up we get from Tympa.

Any advice for others starting out on their Tympa journey?

I would advise anyone starting out is be patient, Rome wasn’t built in a day, take your time, don’t be afraid to ask Tympa, there is no such thing as a silly question.

What has been your favourite thing about using the Tympa system?

My favourite thing has been the ease of use. I love the whole thing! I love seeing the faces of my patients when I show them the before and after pictures, and I also love making a difference to their lives. Hearing loss is a terrible thing but removing ear wax can make a profound difference to their lives.

What methods have worked well when it comes to getting the word out about your new Tympa service?

I have found word of mouth has been my biggest asset. I also have a social media presence which has helped boost my little business.

Do you have any plans for the future?

When I started this journey, I wanted 10 patients a week. In one clinic within 6 months, I have exceeded this and now have three clinics running. I am excited to see what the next six months has to offer.

Any other comments…

I LOVE TYMPAHEALTH!!!
