TLC Care operates nine care homes across Hertfordshire, North London, Cambridge, and Surrey. Renowned for their one-team culture and commitment to continuous improvement, the group delivers residential, nursing, and dementia care focused on enhancing the lives of every resident.

Many TLC residents, particularly those living with dementia, found traditional NHS hearing assessments difficult to access. For residents and their families, this meant living with avoidable discomfort, anxiety, and communication difficulties.

“Our residents didn’t just need the service – they needed it to come to them. Many were waiting weeks or months for appointments, and the whole process could be disorienting and exhausting.”

TympaHealth was introduced across all nine TLC homes, with specially trained team members, known as Tympa Champions, delivering high-quality ear and hearing health within the care homes. From otoscopy and wax removal to hearing checks, services were embedded into monthly clinics and integrated with residents’ care plans.

The results were immediate and personal. Residents rediscovered the ability to hear loved ones, re-engage with activities, and regain confidence. Families expressed relief at the simplicity and effectiveness of care within the home, while staff felt empowered by their new clinical skills.

TLC’s partnership with TympaHealth is a model of how care homes can deliver truly person-centred, clinically excellent care. By removing barriers to ear and hearing health, they’ve not only improved outcomes, but they’ve also transformed lives.
