TympaHealth are pleased to announce that they are the recipients of Innovate UK Smart Grant to further enhance their AI technology.

Innovate UK is part of the UK Research and Innovation initiative that funds business and research collaborations to accelerate innovation and drive business investment into Research & Development. Supporting businesses across all economic sectors, value chains and UK regions.

The Innovate UK Smart Grant will be used by TympaHealth to develop a unique solution to address the global problem of hearing loss by utilising artificial intelligence in a complete system. This will enable timely diagnosis and identification of ear and hearing problems within a variety of healthcare settings. Furthermore, the unique AI platform within the system will complement the patient’s pathway in the delivery of wax removal services, assessment of the eardrum and identification and treatment of hearing loss in one sitting. Optimising accuracy, speed and efficiency of the clinical evaluation as well as reducing the patient journey and waiting time.

Hearing loss is a global issue that is continuing to rise[1]. In the UK there are approximately 12 million people with hearing loss and by 2035 this will rise to 14.2 million[2].  In the USA, 15% of adults (approximately 37.5 million) report difficulty hearing. Clinical evidence shows early identification and treatment of hearing loss and other associated ear diseases can significantly improve health and wellbeing in people[3]. The current pathway for identification of hearing loss is limited by lack of resources and capacity. The AI solution that TympaHealth will develop will help professionals and organisations address some of these gaps.

At TympaHealth we believe in making ear and hearing healthcare accessible to all through innovation and empowering local clinicians to provide vital care services on the ground, in the heart of their community, helping to improve the lives of millions globally. The award of the Innovate UK SMART grant provides testament to the uniqueness and value of what we are building in relation to the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare and trends into hearing health which will ultimately help patients everywhere.

We’re delighted to have the support of the UK government and the UK Research and Innovation Grant.
