Recently a patient sought assistance from Hear Hear Wax Clear in Essex as he had been suffering from pain and a blocked feeling in both ears. As a young man he was unsure why this was happening to him as he thought hearing problems occurred later in life.

When the patient called to book an appointment, his voice sounded worried and desperate. So, Georgina at Hear Hear Wax Clear booked the patient in for later that day.

During the examination the patient stated that he had tried to remove the ear wax using cotton buds to see if it would help alleviate his pain and discomfort. Unfortunately, the cotton buds had in fact made matters worse. It had pushed the ear wax further down the ear canal where it had ended up right up against his tympanic membrane, putting pressure on it – which explained his discomfort.

Using a fine end, Georgina was able to completely remove the ear wax from both ears. One ear had become slightly red after the procedure as the skin had become very dry due to the patient itching his ear.

After the procedure, we explained to the patient the risks of using cotton buds and advised him on what he should do in the future. He left very happy as he was no longer in pain and had no blocked feeling in his ears.
